CONSTRUCTION
The
equipment shelter is constructed of insulated panels contained within a riveted
stainless steel frame which, when assembled, form a rugged weather tight enclosure
which is durable in harsh weather conditions and requires negligible maintenance.
For coastal regions insulation panels are constructed with 0,7mm 304 stainless steel outer panels and painted to Chromadek specification. For inland regions the insulation panels consist of 0,6mm inner and outer Chromadek panels as standard. Colour and sizes to customers requirements.
The shelter can be warehouse assembled, transported to site and is capable of being lifted into its location with a maximum 1000kg of equipment installed. Alternatively, the shelter can be transported in knock down form and erected on site. The shelter is fixed onto base plates, manufactured of stainless steel section that provides level support to the floor. The base plate is capable of being secured to a concrete foundation slab and fixing clips are provided for attaching it onto the base plate so that the shelter can be levelled.
MATERIALS
Walls & Insulation
We
recommend that an equipment shelter to be used within 60kms of coastal area
will have wall panels of a minimum of 0,7mm 304 stainless steel outer sheeting.
Stainless steel will be painted to Chromadek specification. It will be coated
with strippable plastic protective sheet, which should be removed once the
shelter is installed on site.
The internal surface will be frost white Chromadek 0,6mm steel sheeting. The insulation will be a minimum of 80mm thick 20DV Fire retardant polystyrene. The panels are joined together by means of a patented PVC interlocking system. There should be no PVC channelling on the outer skin of the container due to lack of UV resistance as well as to prevent leakage. There will be 2mm steel angles inside panels for reinforcing.
In order to reinforce top, bottom and corners of panels, a U profile bent section is installed to inner and outer panels. As for inland equipment, shelter wall panels will be frost white of 0,6mm Chromadek (or any colour) on outer and inner sections and is coated with a strippable plastic protective sheet which may only be removed once the shelter is on site.
Roof
Panels
The
roof is manufactured with a 0,7mm 304 stainless steel outer section, and 0,6mm
white Chromadek on the inner section. 2mm Steel angle is placed on the inside
of corners in order to reinforce as well as serve as a top brace. The stainless
steel is welded on all joints and corners for waterproofing and water runoff.
The roof is furthermore painted white for the deflection of heat.
Base
The
base is manufactured from 2mm 304 stainless steel lip channel and is reinforced
with welded stainless steel sections. The floor is 18mm plywood with 4mm vinyl
flooring. The exposed underside of floor panel is furthermore coated with
waterproof paint to prevent rotting.
Base
Plates
The base
plates are a minimum of 150mm x 150mm x 4.4mm 304 stainless steel and have
anchor holes drilled in order to facilitate foundation mounting. The base
plate is capable of adjustment, to accommodate up to 100mm variation, relative
to the floor level. The base plate is designed to accommodate varying wind
conditions including bending loads. Adjustable levelling device will provide
a positive mechanical lock and will not create friction between mating surfaces.
Base plate may be detached from the structure for transport purposes.
Doors
The
external doors are insulated with recessed type "J" rubber gaskets
as well as a rubberised cover strip when in the closed position, seating firmly
against the face of the wall. A sloped drip rail protects the top of the door.
The door and the door opening have a Z type PVC profile to prevent leakage.
No riveted PVC section on the outer section of the doors or the door opening.
The door threshold is constructed of a 20mm high x 40mm deep sloped step towards the outside in order to prevent water collecting on the threshold. The doorframe dimensions will not be less than 800mm width x 1900mm high. For coastal sites within 60km of the coast, the hinges and door locking mechanism is of sturdy stainless steel hardware which will enable the door to be locked at the top and the bottom by means of a solid bar lock and secured with a removable lock.
The solid bar lock will have an outside diameter of not less than 30mm to a maximum of 35mm. The locking plates with 12mm holes for an external padlock is not less than 5mm thickness. The door hinges and mechanisms are attached through the outer skin of the container onto tapping plates located below the outer skin. For non-coastal site hinges and door locking mechanism is of sturdy galvanised steel.
Rivets
Rivets
used for construction of the stainless steel frame, stainless steel top brace,
floor, and for securing the insulated panels thereon, is of the stainless
steel rivets Sss4812f series. Rivets are not degreased before installation.
Painted
Stainless Steel
All
stainless steel sheeting is painted to a variety of colours, and is equivalent
to Chromadek specification and is furthermore guaranteed to adhere and withstand
UV resistance by the supplier.
